A systematic review of navigating the digital frontier
Older adults’ intention to adopt digital technologies including communication, information, entertainment, and health-related tools such as mobile health and smart home systems has been widely studied. However, the lack of an integrated framework that explains how multiple factors interact to shape adoption. This study addresses this gap through a systematic review of 59 articles, synthesizing evidence across diverse theoretical perspectives. The…
Aviation lifesavers
Cabin rescue and first aid, as a professional core course for aviation service and management-related programs in China, plays a critical role in preparing students for qualified cabin crew to handle various in-flight medical emergencies. This study aims to develop an innovative blended learning (BL) cabin rescue and first aid educational module. Design and development research (DDR) approach was adopted for the module development, including thre…
Ready for emergencies
With the rapid growth of the passenger population as well as the complex situation caused by the past pandemic, airlines need to recruit flight attendants with strong medical emergency response capabilities. In China, the cultivation of flight attendant students is mainly done by vocational colleges or universities. Aero-medical aspects and first aid (AMAFA) course is considered crucial and mandatory for preparing qualified flight attendants. Thi…
Distinct changes in the vertical structure of QBO amplitude due to tropical upwelling and wave forcing
The quasi-biennial oscillation (QBO) dominates variability of the equatorial stratosphere and shows a weakening trend in the lower levels in recent studies. This study focuses on the vertical structure of QBO amplitude changes in observation, the dynamic reasons involved, and possible changes under future scenarios. The QBO amplitude has an increased trend in the upper levels of stratosphere and a decreased one in the lower during 1960–2022. Resu…
Association of social frailty, sarcopenia, and oral frailty with depressive symptoms in Chinese older adults
This research indicated that sarcopenia, oral frailty, pre-social frailty, and social frailty, were significant and positively associated with depressive symptoms. These results provide clinicians with a reference for identifying high-risk older adults and give public health policymakers a scientific approach to taking targeted interventions. Future research should further explore the two-way relationship between these factors and depressive symp…
Jiawei Ermiao Granules (JWEMGs) clear persistent HR-HPV infection though improving vaginal microecology
Socio-culturally responsive medical professionalism and ethics education
Medical professionalism and ethics (MPE) are critical components influencing how medical practitioners provide patients with the highest standard of care. As a result, a structured attempt has been undertaken to enhance the content and teaching delivery of the medical professionalism and ethics education (MPEE) in the undergraduate medical curriculum. Guided by Vygotsky's sociocultural learning theory, Harre and Van Langenhove's positioning theor…
Soil C
Over the past few years, incubated biocrusts (IBSC)—the inoculation of soil/sand with cyanobacteria, moss, and lichen—have become one of the most promising biotechnological strategies for preventing soil erosion and restoring soil function in degraded drylands. Soil nutrient content (C, N, and P) is one of the key factors that influences IBSC colonization and development; however, the effects of soil C:N, C:P, and N:P stoichiometric ratios on the…
Acquiring high‐quality and sufficient propagules/fragments for cyanobacteria crust inoculation and restoration of degraded soils in a sandy desert
Sowing naturally developing biocrust fragments is a fast and effective approach to cultivate biocrusts for the restoration of soil function. However, producing large amounts of biocrust fragments/propagules is difficult for ecological restoration, especially at large scales. In this study, we use fresh cyanobacteria to cultivate fragments and then broadcast these to culture artificial biocrusts under field conditions. Our results show that the cu…
