Safe or Unsafe? A Street-Level Analysis of the (Mis)Match Between Perceived and Objective Safety in Chaoyang District, Beijing
Objective crime risk and perceived safety constitute distinct yet interrelated dimensions of urban security, whose spatial discrepancies may lead to misaligned policy interventions. This study develops a street-level analytical framework to examine the (mis)match between perceived safety and crime risk in Chaoyang District, Beijing. An enhanced Street-view imagery (SVI) segmentation model with object detection was applied to extract streetscape e…
Effects of exercise on cardiorespiratory fitness in children and adolescents with overweight and obesity
This study demonstrates that exercise is an effective tool for improving low CRF caused by overweight and obesity in children and adolescents. Exercise programs with a duration of ≤ 12 weeks, a frequency of ≥ 3 sessions per week, and a session length of ≤ 60 min were associated with greater improvements in CRF. Combined exercise or moderate-to-high-intensity interval training can achieve superior improvements compared with conventional exercise p…
Analysis of Road Safety Perception and Influencing Factors in a Complex Urban Environment—Taking Chaoyang District, Beijing, as an Example
Measuring human perception of environmental safety and quantifying the street view elements that affect human perception of environmental safety are of great significance for improving the urban environment and residents’ safety perception. However, domestic large-scale quantitative research on the safety perception of Chinese local cities needs to be deepened. Therefore, this paper chooses Chaoyang District in Beijing as the research area. First…
The Blocking Effect of Clay in Groundwater Systems
In order to increase understanding of the hydrogeochemical effects that influence changes in the quality of salt water, we investigated the distribution of saline and fresh water in an inland plain area and, in particular, the scarcity of fresh water resources. Taking the inland plain in Jiyang County as a specific case study, samples of undisturbed clay and underground saline water from different depths were collected to examine hydrogeological …
