Photography and Ethnography in Spain
The history of anthropology and photography in Spain in many ways parallels the development in other European metropolitan centres in the mid-nineteenth century, photography having been adopted in Spain with the same enthusiasm as elsewhere in the Euro-American world. The purpose of this essay is to give an overview of developments which were of particular relevance in Spain, offering the double focus of the observer and the observed.1
