  • Performance, Colonialism, and Survivals: Aby Warburg and the Matachines Dance in the US Southwestern Territories

    Open Access•Stéphanie Vella•ARTICLE•TDR/The Drama Review•2022

German art historian Aby Warburg’s 1895–1896 trip through the southwestern US reexamined in the context of late 19th‐century colonialism interjects the ethical stakes of displacement and replacement into one of Warburg’s key theoretical terms, “survival.” Working through how power differentials in colonialism shape the way images and affects survive in performance, an unremarked‐upon Matachines dance is reinstated in this travel narrative

  • Economic Vulnerability and Resilience: Concepts and Measurements

Lino Briguglio, Gordon Cordina et al.•ARTICLE•Oxford Development Studies•2009

In this paper, economic vulnerability is defined as the exposure of an economy to exogenous shocks, arising out of economic openness, while economic resilience is defined as the policy-induced ability of an economy to withstand or recover from the effects of such shocks. The paper briefly reviews the work already carried out on economic vulnerability and extends the research towards the development of a conceptual and methodological framework for…
