Mapping affective pathways to compulsion
Developing digital interventions for a post‐Covid world
Harmful alcohol use is a major public health issue. In‐person treatment has been hindered by the restrictions necessary during the Covid‐19 pandemic. This study examined the effects of an at‐home smartphone‐based cognitive bias modification training in heavy drinkers. Experiment 1 tested the effect of a short 20–30‐min smartphone‐based approach‐avoidance training (AAT) on image‐induced craving at a 1‐day follow‐up. Sixty‐two participants consumin…
Modulation of Attentional Bias to Drug and Affective Cues by Therapeutic and Neuropsychological Factors in Patients With Opioid Use Disorder on Methadone Maintenance Therapy
Objective: Abnormal selective attention to drug cues and negative affect is observed in patients with substance dependence, and it is closely associated with drug addiction and relapse. Methadone maintenance is an effective replacement therapy to treat heroin addiction, which significantly reduces the relapse rate. The present study examines whether the patients with opioid use disorder on chronic methadone maintenance therapy exhibit abnormal at…

Psychometric Properties of the Chinese version of UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale
The present study supports the reliability but not the structure validity of the UPPS-P Impulsive Behavior Scale. The impulsivity personality trait assessed by the UPPS-P scale was associated with impulsivity choice, depression, anxiety, gender, and drinking and smoking status. Further studies should be conducted to explore the structure of impulsivity in the Chinese population
Abnormal Voxel-Wise Degree Centrality in Patients With Late-Life Depression
These findings indicate that the intrinsic abnormality of network centrality exists in a wide range of brain areas in LLD patients. LOD patients differ with EOD patients in cortical network centrality. Our study might help to strengthen the understanding of the pathophysiology of LLD and the potential neural substrates underlie related emotional and cognitive impairments observed in the patients
The Effect of Intermittent Theta Burst Stimulation (iTBS) in Patients With Alcohol Use Disorder
This study is registered in the ClinicalTrials with trial number NCT03932149. Registered 17 April 2019
Habenular Stimulation for Neurosurgery Resistant Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
This case report provides the first clinical evidence suggesting that HB DBS could serve as a safe and effective alternative neurosurgical intervention for severe and refractory OCD. The present findings are promising and warrant further research into the role of the HB in pathophysiology and treatment of OCD
Compulsive sexual behaviour disorder in the ICD‐11
During the last decade, there has been heated debate regarding whether compulsive sexual behaviour should be classified as a mental/behavioural disorder. Compulsive sexual behaviour disorder has been proposed for inclusion as an impulse control disorder in the ICD-111. It is characterized by a persistent pattern of failure to control intense, repetitive sexual impulses or urges, resulting in repetitive sexual behaviour over an extended period (e.…
Should compulsive sexual behavior be considered an addiction?
Neural Correlates of Sexual Cue Reactivity in Individuals with and without Compulsive Sexual Behaviours
Although compulsive sexual behaviour (CSB) has been conceptualized as a "behavioural" addiction and common or overlapping neural circuits may govern the processing of natural and drug rewards, little is known regarding the responses to sexually explicit materials in individuals with and without CSB. Here, the processing of cues of varying sexual content was assessed in individuals with and without CSB, focusing on neural regions identified in pri…
