  • “How do we want to be led?” Team aspirations and adaptive leadership in virtual and hybrid work

Open Access•Cass Coulston, Sukhwinder S Shergill et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2026

PURPOSE: As virtual and hybrid work become embedded in organisational life, understanding how leadership can best support well-being and effective team functioning is vital. This study explores how leadership is experienced and enacted in virtual and hybrid teams, using the Job Demands-Resources (JD-R) model as an interpretive framework and Conservation of Resources (COR) theory to deepen interpretation of strain and sustainability over time. METH…

  • Flexibility is the name of the game’

Open Access•Carolina Fialho, Alya Abouzahr et al.•ARTICLE•SSM - Mental Health•2025

In the UK, NICE (2014) recommends a minimum of 16 sessions of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy for the treatment of psychosis. One of the barriers to implementation is that clinicians’ views of optimum doses may not fit with this guidance. This study investigates the views of clinicians on the optimal dose of interventions. Fifteen clinicians participated in four focus groups and completed a bespoke questionnaire investigating experiences of dose in d…

  • Dose-response relationship in digital psychological therapies for people with psychosis

Open Access•Carolina Fialho, Jenny Yiend et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2025

  • Targeting Treatment-Resistant Auditory Verbal Hallucinations in Schizophrenia with fMRI-Based Neurofeedback – Exploring Different Cases of Schizophrenia

Open Access•Miriam Dyck, Miriam S Dyck et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2016

Auditory verbal hallucinations (AVHs) are a hallmark of schizophrenia and can significantly impair patients' emotional, social, and occupational functioning. Despite progress in psychopharmacology, over 25% of schizophrenia patients suffer from treatment-resistant hallucinations. In the search for alternative treatment methods, neurofeedback (NF) emerges as a promising therapy tool. NF based on real-time functional magnetic resonance imaging (rt-…

  • Do you see what I see? Sex differences in the discrimination of facial emotions during adolescence

Nikki Lee, Nikki C Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Emotion•2013

During adolescence social relationships become increasingly important. Establishing and maintaining these relationships requires understanding of emotional stimuli, such as facial emotions. A failure to adequately interpret emotional facial expressions has previously been associated with various mental disorders that emerge during adolescence. The current study examined sex differences in emotional face processing during adolescence. Participants…

  • Annett's theory that individuals heterozygous for the right shift gene are intellectually advantaged

    Open Access•I C Mcmanus, Shergill et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•1993•Cited by: 2

Annett & Manning (1989; 1990a,b) have proposed that left-handedness is maintained by a balanced polymorphism, whereby the rs+/- heterozygote manifests increased intellectual ability compared with the rs-/- and rs+/+ homozygotes. In this paper we demonstrate that Annett's method of dividing subjects into putative genotypes does not allow the rs+/- genotype to be compared with the rs-/- genotype within handedness groups. Our alternative method does…
