    The Eddic formulas of curse against a perjurer have been compared to Eddic and Russian formulas of oath, mainly showing that the oath is a conditional self-curse. They may be compared to Sanskrit ones which indicate that the curse of oaths formulas correspond to the social function of the perjurer
