  • An Analysis on Industry Diversification Patterns of Emerging and Developing Economies in East Asia

    본 연구는 동아시아 지역의 중간소득 국가 16개국을 분석하여, 수출상품 다각화 유형과 경제발전의 관계를 규명하고자 한다. 구체적으로는 수출상품의 다각화 유형을 경로이탈적 다각화와 경로의존적 다각화로 구분하여, 동아시아의 중간소득 국가들이 어떠한 유형에 속해 있는지 파악하고, 경로이탈적 다각화가 경제성장에 어떠한 영향을 주는지 살펴본다. 이를 위해, 1962년부터 2019년까지의 수출 데이터를 활용하여, 국가의 도전적 신산업 비율(기존 산업과 다른 산업에 진입한 비율)을 표현하기 위한 새로운 지수를 제시한다. 분석의 주요 결과는, 전통적인 비교우위 이론과 다르게, 경로이탈적 다각화가 아시아 국가들의 경제발전에 긍정적인 영향을 끼쳤음을 보인다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 1) 경로의존성 이론에 실증적 근거를 제공하며, 2) 경로이탈적 수출상품 다각화의 표현을 위한 새로운 지수를 제시하며, 3) 중간소득 …
