Early cotrimoxazole from 6 weeks of age in HIV-infected infants seemed to reduce probability of severe events but the study lacked statistical power to prove this. We present here the results of a survey conducted in Côte d'Ivoire, Africa, among healthcare providers, on the knowledge of prophylactic use of cotrimoxazole to prevent opportunistic infections in HIV-infected persons. La diffusion de préservatifs féminins auprès d'une trentaine de femmes commerçantes d'Abidjan, a été suivie par une équipe de recherche pluridisciplinaire. Cette expérience a rencontré un accueil très favorable de la part de ces femmes autonomes. Avec sa double fonction de protection et de contraception, il est particulièrement adapté à la vie sexuelle irrégulière d'une partie d'entre elles et relativement bien accepté par leurs partenaires
