English and German
The past decade has witnessed intensive activity in Textlinguistik (discourse analysis) among German linguists (cf., Kallmeyer and Meyer–Herrmann 1980). This, of course, is not an entirely new phenomenon. Such basic works on German syntax as Drach (1940) and Boost (1964) paid attention to relationships between sentences within discourse and/or their impact on word order.

Some (German-English) Language Contact Phenomena at the Discourse Level
Sentence Construction in German-English Bilinguals
The characteristics of the sentence production systems of German-English bilinguals were investigated using a sentence completion technique in which either the first or the second half of a sentence was deleted. It was found that the results for bilinguah matched the results obtained for separate groups of German and English speakers, provided that the bilinguals were highly fluent in both languages

IN these days of rapid migrant assimilation, the language of former isolated German settlements, where language assimilation was not necessary, has become the subject of investigations in various parts of Australasia.1 This article is concerned with the final stage of long-standing language contact.
