  • A trend analysis of the burden of lower extremity peripheral arterial disease in China, 1990 to 2021

Open Access•Chen Zhang, Mo Chen et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

The present study provides a thorough trend analysis of the burden of lower extremity peripheral arterial disease (PAD) in China during 1990–2021, based on data from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021. Lower extremity PAD is an atherosclerotic disease that causes obstruction of blood vessels supplying the legs, presenting as intermittent claudication, rest pain, non - healing wounds, ulcers, or gangrene, and may lead to limb amputation or de…

  • The Intergenerational Transmission of Social Adjustment in Single‐Parent Families With Different Sex Compositions

Open Access•I‐Jun Chen, I-C Chen et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of Psychology•2025

Despite evidence of intergenerational transmission of behaviours and attitudes between parents and children, and differences in interactions between single parents and same‐ or opposite‐sex children, the role of parent–child sex composition in the transmission of social adjustment in single‐parent families remains unclear. This study surveyed 532 parent‐adolescent dyads from single‐parent families, with adolescents aged 12–18 years ( M = 14.81, S…

  • Designing and facilitating effective forest carbon policy in the Hindu Kush Himalayas

Open Access•Giri Kattel, Zhen Yu et al.•ARTICLE•Trees Forests and People•2025

Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) forests play an important role in carbon sequestration. • An integrated forest policy reform reduces the climate change impact on HKH forests. • Forest-based carbon management in HKH addresses regional climate change challenges. • A transboundary institutional framework proposed to address carbon policy in HKH. The Hindu-Kush Himalaya are a critical biodiversity hotspot and a major global reservoir of forest carbon, with…

  • Shifts in graduate mobility between Chinese cities during Covid-19

Hao Lu, Lu Hao et al.•ARTICLE•Regional Studies•2025•Referências: 15

This study analyses how graduate mobility between Chinese cities changed before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. Using mobile phone signalling data on more than one million graduates from nine cities, we estimate gravity models to explain graduate flows between 297 cities from 2019 to 2021. We find that geographical distance, prior population flows and service-sector employment consistently influenced mobility. During the pandemic, techno…

  • Combined effects of urbanization and climate variability on water and carbon balances in a rice paddy-dominated basin in southern China

Open Access•D L Chen, Ning Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2024

Urbanization is known to elevate storm runoff, but how it influences carbon cycle and ecosystem productivity through altering the evapotranspiration (ET) process is less clear. We examined the combined effects of urbanization including change in impervious surface area (ISA) and climate variability on the water and carbon balances of the Qinhuai River Basin (QRB) over 2001–2018. QRB represents a typical rice paddy-dominated region that experience…

  • A study on the AMS 14C chronology of late pleistocene lacustrine sediments and related proxies of organic carbon in northwest China

Open Access•Yuxin Zhang, Yu Li et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2024

  • Exploring the anti-ferroptosis mechanism of Kai-Xin-San against Alzheimer's disease through integrating network pharmacology, bioinformatics, and experimental validation strategy in vivo and in vitro

Open Access•Chenchen Yan, Song Yang et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Ethnopharmacology•2024

  • Middle to Late Holocene lake evolution and its links with westerlies and Asian monsoon in the middle part of the Hexi Corridor, NW China

Open Access•Simin Peng, Yu Li et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2023

The interpretation and understanding of the relationship between Middle to Late Holocene climate change in monsoon margins of northwest China with the westerlies and Asian monsoon (AM) remain controversial. Here we present a new multi-proxy sedimentary dataset from the Heihe River basin in the middle part of the Hexi Corridor on the northern margin of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP), which is a sensitive zone for the interaction between the weste…

  • Community forestry dominates the recent land greening amid climate change in Nepal

Open Access•Shenshen Gao, Lang Wang et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2023

The Himalaya Plateau including Nepal is ‘greening up’ that has important implications to ecosystem services such as water supply, carbon sequestration, and local livelihoods. Understanding the combined causes behind greening is critical for effective policy makings in forest management and climate change adaptation towards achieving sustainable development goals. This national scale study comprehensively examined the natural and anthropogenic dri…

  • Urbanization altered atmospheric humidity diurnally and seasonally through ecohydrological processes in five urban agglomerations in China

Open Access•Xiaolin Huang, Kailun Jin et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2022

The large-scale conversion of vegetated land to urban use leads to a significant reduction in evapotranspiration (ET) due to the lack of vegetation, which may aggravate urban dry island (UDI) effect. Analysis of diurnal and seasonal (e.g. growing season) variations in UDI can help us to better identify the role of ET in processes of UDI. We compared six-hourly weather observation data (1980–2017) from 140 paired urban-rural stations across a larg…

  • Contributions of open crop straw burning emissions to PM 2.5 concentrations in China

Open Access•Libo Zhang, Yongqiang Liu et al.•ARTICLE•Environmental Research Letters•2016

PM _2.5 inventories have been developed in major Chinese cities to quantify the contributions from various sources based on annual emissions. This approach, however, could substantially underestimate the contribution from open straw burning during the harvest or other active burning periods. This study examines this issue by estimating monthly and annual straw-burning PM _2.5 emissions in China and comparing with them with the corresponding emiss…
