  • Body Image and Paranoia—Findings From a Large‐Scale Community Sample Using Network Analysis

Open Access•Justyna Piwińska, Paulina Bagrowska et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Clinical Psychology•2026

BACKGROUND: Body image - the way individuals perceive, think, and feel about their own body, is a subjective psychological construct shaped by biological, psychological, and sociocultural factors. Negative body image is linked not only to psychological distress and reduced quality of life, but also to paranoia-like thoughts. However, the underlying mechanisms remain poorly understood. OBJECTIVE: This study applied a network approach to psychopath…

  • Habitus of doubt? The role of social class narcissism in shaping psychological help conspiracy beliefs

Open Access•Zuzanna Molenda, Marta Marchlewska et al.•ARTICLE•British Journal of Psychology•2026

Collective narcissism is known to fuel anti‐scientific attitudes. However, its role in shaping conspiracy beliefs portraying those who use psychology to help others as manipulative or controlling remains largely unexplored. We argue that social class narcissism (i.e., exaggerated belief in the superiority of one's social group, along with sensitivity to criticism and hostility towards other groups) would foster psychological help conspiracy belie…

  • Permepsy

Open Access•María Lamarca, Claudia Evangelista Requejo et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

  • Effects of the interaction between PTSD and ADHD symptoms on the level of reporting psychotic-like experiences

  • The Indirect Effect of Trauma via Cognitive Biases and Self-Disturbances on Psychotic-Like Experiences

Open Access•Renata Pionke, Dorota Frydecka et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2021

Although self-disturbances (SD) are considered to be a core psychopathological feature of schizophrenia spectrum disorders, there is still insufficient empirical data on the mechanisms underlying these anomalous self-experiences. The aim of the present study was to test a hypothesized model in which cognitive biases and exposure to traumatic life events are related to the frequency of SD which, in turn, contribute to the frequency of psychotic-li…

  • The neurophenomenology of early psychosis

Open Access•Barnaby Nelson, Suzie Lavoie et al.•ARTICLE•Consciousness and Cognition•2020

  • Monetary Incentives Increase Metacognitive Confidence in Source Memory Performance in Patients With Schizophrenia

Open Access•Remigiusz Szczepanowski, Ewelina Cichoń et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2020

Our findings suggest that monetary incentives improve accuracy of metacognition among both patients and healthy controls. This accuracy-enhancing effect of monetary incentives on metacognition was possibly a result of motivational processes, including aversion to loss. The paper discusses the potential application of PDW in therapeutic metacognitive training for patients with schizophrenia

  • Mental Well-Being During Pandemic

Open Access•Anna Schudy, Karolina Żurek et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2020

Both cognitive appraisals of risks associated with the specific disease and affective response to crisis situations have been shown to shape an individual response to pandemics. COVID-19 pandemic and measures introduced to contain it present an unparalleled challenge to mental well-being worldwide. Here, we examine the relationship between self-reported cognitive biases (CB) and emotion regulation skills (ER), COVID-19 risk perception and affecti…
