  • Experimental bison butchery using replica hafted Clovis fluted points and large handheld flakes

    Open Access•M I Eren, Michelle Bebber et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science…•2024•Cited by: 4•References: 56

Late Pleistocene Clovis fluted points and stone flake tools have been found in association with bison at several archaeological sites in western North America. To gain insight into how these tools may have functioned in bison butchery, as well as to assess the assumptions or interpretations of these implements by archaeologists, we conducted a bison-processing experiment. We examined the relative efficacy in the butchering process of hafted flute…

In Section 2, he describes his recent efforts to model young children’s expository writing. He proposes three models that constitute an elaboration of Bereiter and Scardam…

  • Using Participant Event Monitoring in a Cohort Study of Unintentional Injuries Among Children and Adolescents

    J R Wilkins, Jacqueline Wilkins et al.•ARTICLE•American Journal of Public Health•2007•References: 35

Data were obtained via participant event monitoring, with youths self-reporting injuries and exposures in daily diaries over a 13-week period. We evaluated data quality by comparing injury self-reports with other injury data. Results. Semilogarithmic plots of rates of all uninten…

  • Redefining Revision for Freshmen

David L Wallace, John R Hayes•ARTICLE•Research in the Teaching of English•1991

This study investigates the impact of task definition on students’ revising strategies. Our primary aim was to determine if freshman students could revise globally if instructed to do so and if those global revisions would result in improved texts. We asked two groups of freshmen to revise a text provided by the experimenters; one group was given eight minutes of instruction on how to revise globally, and the other was simply asked to make the te…

However, recent empirical work by Goffee and Scase suggests that it is inappropriate to speak of 'the' female entrepreneur: there are different types of female business proprietors. Based on an empirical study of 34 aspiring female proprietors, the authors investigate the validity of Goffee and Scase's …
