  • Seasonal temperature and moisture changes in interior semi‐arid Spain from the last interglacial to the Late Holocene

    Open Access•Dongyang Wei, Penélope González‐Sampériz et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2021

The El Cañizar de Villarquemado pollen record covers the last part of MIS 6 to the Late Holocene. We use Tolerance-Weighted Averaging Partial Least Squares (TWA-PLS) to reconstruct mean temperature of the coldest month (MTCO) and growing degree days above 0°C (GDD 0 ) and the ratio of annual precipitation to annual potential evapotranspiration (MI), accounting for the ecophysiological effect of changing CO 2 on water-use efficiency. Rapid summer …

  • Humans take control of fire-driven diversity changes in Mediterranean Iberia’s vegetation during the mid–late Holocene

    Open Access•Simon Connor, Boris Vannière et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2019•Citada por: 4•Referencias: 39

Fire regime changes are considered a major threat to future biodiversity in the Mediterranean Basin. Such predictions remain uncertain, given that fire regime changes and their ecological impacts occur over timescales that are too long for direct observation. Here we analyse centennial- and millennial-scale shifts in fire regimes and compositional turnover to track the consequences of fire regime shifts on Mediterranean vegetation diversity. We e…

  • Chironomid-inferred Holocene temperature reconstruction in Basa de la Mora Lake (Central Pyrenees)

    Open Access•Pol Tarrats, Oliver Heiri et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•Referencias: 19

We present the first Holocene chironomid-based summer temperature reconstruction for the Iberian Peninsula. A sequence from the shallow mountain lake Basa de la Mora (1914 m a.s.l., Central Pyrenees) was analysed and the reconstruction was performed by means of a merged Norwegian–Swiss chironomid calibration dataset. The presence of a multiproxy study conducted in the same lake, as well as other available regional temperature estimations, allowed…

  • Landscape, resources and people during the Mesolithic and Neolithic times in NE Iberia

  • Expected trends and surprises in the Lateglacial and Holocene vegetation history of the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands

Open Access•José S Carrión, Santiago Fernández et al.•ARTICLE•Review of Palaeobotany and…•2010

  • Arid and humid phases in southern Spain during the last 4000 years

    Open Access•Celia Martin-Puertas, Blas L Valero-Garcés et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2008•Citada por: 17•Referencias: 13

A multiproxy study of sediment cores from Zoñar Lake (37°29′00′′N, 4°41′22′′W, 300 m a.s.l.) supported by 11 14 C AMS dates provides the first high-resolution centennial-scale reconstruction of past humidity changes in southern Spain during the last 4000 years. Arid periods occurred prior to 2.9 cal. kyr BP and during 1.3—0.6 cal. kyr BP (`Mediaeval Climate Anomaly'). The most humid period occurred during 2.6—1.6 cal. kyr BP encompassing the late…

  • Glacial and Lateglacial vegetation in northeastern Spain

    Open Access•Penélope González‐Sampériz, Penélope González-Sampériz et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2005

  • Paleohydrological fluctuations and steppe vegetation during the last glacial maximum in the central Ebro valley (NE Spain)

    Open Access•Blas L Valero-Garcés, Penélope González-Sampériz et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2004

  • Lateglacial and Late Holocene environmental and vegetational change in Salada Mediana, central Ebro Basin, Spain
