  • Altered distribution of resting periods of daily locomotor activity in patients with delayed sleep phase disorder

Open Access•Marina Hirose, Toru Nakamura et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2022

Delayed sleep phase disorder (DSPD) and mood disorders have a close relationship. However, the shared mechanisms by DSPD and mood disorders have not been well-elucidated. We previously found that micro-fluctuations in human behaviors are organized by robust statistical laws (behavioral organization), where the cumulative distributions of resting and active period durations take a power-law distribution form and a stretched exponential functional …

  • Acoustic Hyper-Reactivity and Negatively Skewed Locomotor Activity in Children With Autism Spectrum Disorders

Open Access•Hidetoshi Takahashi, Toru Nakamura et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2018

Investigation of objective and quantitative behavioral phenotypes along with neurobiological endophenotypes might lead to increased knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Here, we investigated the association between locomotor dynamics and characteristics of the acoustic startle response (ASR) and its modulation in ASD ( n = 14) and typically developing (TD, n = 13) children. The ASR was recorded in response to…

  • Human Infant Remains of the Earliest Jomon Period, Suffering Death by a Falling Rock

Open Access•Yukinari Kohara, Toru Nakamura et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Anthropological…•1971

Two human infant remains were found under the rock of the rockshelter site of Tochibara, Kita-Aiki-Mura, Minami-Saku-Gun, Nagano Prefecture (The Earliest Stage of Jomon Period). Based on the teeth, two children were estimated to be 3 years and half, and 5 years and half. Skeletons were laid so that they ran away. A cleft on ilium suggests a heavy bruise. They were pressed to death by a falling rock, which was seperated from the ceiling of the she…
