  • Holocene environmental changes of the Songji lagoon, South Korea, and its linkage to sea level and Enso changes

  • Pollen record of early- to mid-Holocene vegetation and climate dynamics on the eastern coast of the Yellow Sea, South Korea

    Open Access•Bing Song, Sangheon Yi et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•References: 10

To understand the early- to mid-Holocene vegetation and climate dynamics on the eastern coast of the Yellow Sea, we obtained a sedimentary core with high-resolution accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS) carbon 14 ( 14 C) data from the Gunsan coast in South Korea. The palynological analysis demonstrated that the riverine wetland meadow from 12.1 to 9.8 cal. kyr BP changed to temperate deciduous broad-leaved forest in 9.8–2.8 cal. kyr BP. In addition…

  • Holocene changes in flooding frequency in South Korea and their linkage to centennial-to-millennial-scale El Niño–Southern Oscillation activity

    Open Access•Jaesoo Lim, Jin-Young Lee et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2017

To trace past changes in flooding frequency, we investigated fluvial sediments in the middle reach of the Nakdong River, South Korea. Sediments with larger grain size, lower total organic carbon percentage, and depleted δ 13 C values in the recovered sediment cores were interpreted as periods of more frequent flooding. Patterns of decreased long-term flooding frequency and vegetation changes during the early to late Holocene were similar to the d…

  • Holocene environmental change inferred from multiple proxies in the mouth of Gomso Bay on the west coast of South Korea

Open Access•Bing Song, Sangheon Yi et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary Research•2017

A sediment core (14DH-C01) obtained from the mouth of Gomso Bay, on the west coast of South Korea, was used to obtain high-resolution palynomorph, grain-size, and 14 C age data to investigate the Holocene sedimentary environment. The results indicated a transgressive depositional process with four stages controlled by sea-level change, as follows: river-dominated fluvial deposition from the early Holocene to 8.48 cal ka BP; tide-dominated tidal c…

  • Offset in radiocarbon age between plant and shell pairs in Holocene sediment around the Mae-ho Lagoon on the eastern coast of Korea

Open Access•Toshimichi Nakanishi, Wan Hong et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • OSL dating of coastal sediments from the southwestern Korean Peninsula

Open Access•Jin Cheul Kim, Tae Soo Chang et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2015

  • Holocene environmental changes inferred from sedimentary records in the lower reach of the Yeongsan River, Korea

    Open Access•Wook‐Hyun Nahm, Wook-Hyun Nahm et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2014•Cited by: 1•References: 13

Multidisciplinary paleoproxy data from three sedimentary cores (9.05-m-long MW-2, 16.50-m-long IL-3, and 11.88-m-long JD-1) recovered from the Yeongsan River Estuary of Korea are presented. A marine influence can be observed at 10,400 yr BP (−21 m) and 8600 yr BP (−14 to −12 m) around the Yeongsan River Estuary. However, if we take the macro-tidal setting of the Yeongsan River Estuary into consideration, actual sea level could differ from the dep…

  • Holocene millennial-scale vegetation changes in the Yugu floodplain, Kongju area, central South Korea

Open Access•Jaesoo Lim, Sangheon Yi et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2012

  • Topographical evolution and 14C age dating of the construction of the Eurimji reservoir (Jecheon, Korea)

Open Access•Wook‐Hyun Nahm, Wook-Hyun Nahm et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Archaeological Science•2012

  • Holocene wetland environmental change based on major element concentrations and organic contents from the Cheollipo coast, Korea

    Open Access•Dong Yoon Yang, Ju-Yong Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2008

  • Late Quaternary stratigraphy of the Yeongsan Estuary, Southwestern Korea

Open Access•Wook-Hyun Nahm, Jeong Chan Kim et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2008

  • Holocene paleosols of the Upo wetland, Korea
