  • Implications of sea level variability on the formation and evolution of subtropical Rainbow Beach patterned fen complexes, Queensland, Australia

    Open Access•Johanna M Hanson, Kevin Welsh et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2022•References: 9

The Great Sandy National Park [K’gari (Fraser Island) and Cooloola] contains the largest subtropical patterned fen complexes in the world. These globally significant, groundwater-dependent ecosystems have been previously studied in relatively undisturbed areas on K’gari and were suggested to be resilient to changes in hydrology, sea level and wildfires. The Rainbow Beach patterned fens are under-studied systems thought to be formed in local perch…

  • Holocene sea-level change and coastal landscape evolution in the southern Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia

    Open Access•Craig R Slo, Luke D Nothdurft et al.•ARTICLE•The Holocene•2018•Cited by: 10•References: 11

A revised Holocene sea-level history for the southern Gulf of Carpentaria is presented based on new data from the South Wellesley Archipelago and age recalibration of previous research. Results confirm that rising sea levels during the most recent post-glacial marine transgression breached the Arafura Sill ca. 11,700 cal. yr BP. Sea levels continued to rise to ca. –30 m by 10,000 cal. yr BP, leading to full marine conditions. By 7700 cal. yr BP, …

  • A 25,000-year record of environmental change from Welsby Lagoon, North Stradbroke Island, in the Australian subtropics

Open Access•Cameron Barr, John Tibby et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017

  • A late Quaternary record of monsoon variability in the northwest Kimberley, Australia

    Open Access•Emily Field, Hamish A McGowan et al.•ARTICLE•Quaternary International•2017
