  • Archaeometric Study of Volcanic Lithic Objects from The Longola (Poggiomarino) Protohistoric Site, Southern Italy

Open Access•Giuseppina Balassone, Patrizia Santi et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2016•References: 14

The Longola protohistoric village (spanning from the late Middle Bronze Age to the sixth century bc ) is a perifluvial settlement located in the Sarno River floodplain to the north‐east of Pompeii (southern Italy) and east of the Somma‐Vesuvius volcano. • Lead Isotopic Evidence for a Mixed Provenance for Roman Water Pipes From Pompeii

Open Access•Maria Boni, Giovanni Di Maio et al.•ARTICLE•Archaeometry•2000•Cited by: 12•References: 10

Lead isotope analysis has been applied to the investigation of some Roman objects found in the town of Pompeii, consisting mostly of fistulae from the Augustan water supply system. The results of the analyses have produced ratios between 18.10 and 18.66 for 206 Pb/ 204 Pb, between 15.63 and 15.72 for 207 Pb/ 204 Pb and between 38.21 and 38.98 for 208 Pb/ 204 Pb. These data point to a fairly complex origin for the lead artefacts, probably involvin…
