Interpretable machine learning method to predict the risk of pre-diabetes using a national-wide cross-sectional data
The constructed model comprises nine easily accessible predictive factors, which prove highly effective in forecasting the risk of pre-diabetes. Concurrently, we have quantified the specific impact of each predictive factor on the risk and ranked them based on their influence. This result may serve as a convenient tool for early identification of individuals at high risk of pre-diabetes, providing effective guidance for preventing the progression…
Scenario analysis of Covid-19 dynamical variations by different social environmental factors
Background: With the rapid advancement of the One Health approach, the transmission of human infectious diseases is generally related to environmental and animal health. Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has been largely impacted by environmental factors regionally and globally and has significantly disrupted human society, especially in low-income regions that border many countries. However, few research studies have explored the impact of environm…
Dynamic variations in and prediction of Covid-19 with omicron in the four first-tier cities of mainland China, Hong Kong, and Singapore
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic, which began in late 2019, has resulted in the devastating collapse of the social economy and more than 10 million deaths worldwide. A recent study suggests that the pattern of COVID-19 cases will resemble a mini-wave rather than a seasonal surge. In general, COVID-19 has more severe impacts on cities than on rural areas, especially in cities with high population density. Methods: In this study, the background si…
The impact of social support on the quality of life among older adults in China
Background: As aging issues become serious, how to guarantee and improve the quality of life among older adults has become a hot topic in China. This article is aimed to discuss the impact of formal and informal social support on the quality of life among older adults and the differences in gender and urban-rural areas. Methods: The data used in this article are from the 2020 China Family Panel Studies (CFPS). Quality of life is measured from thr…
Empirical Study of Monthly Economic Losses Assessments for “Standard Unit Lockdown” Due to Covid-19
Background: The pandemic of COVID-19 has been shaping economic developments of the world. From the standpoint of government measures to prevent and control the epidemic, the lockdown was widely used. It is essential to access the economic losses in a lockdown environment which will provide government administration with a necessary reference for decision making in controlling the epidemic. Methods: We introduce the concept of "standard unit incid…
Spatial Heterogeneity and Its Influencing Factors of Syphilis in Ningxia, Northwest China, from 2004 to 2017
Syphilis remains a growing and resurging infectious disease in China. However, exploring the influence of environmental factors on the spatiotemporal distribution of syphilis remains under explore. This study aims to analyze the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of syphilis in Ningxia, Northwest China, and its potential environmental influencing factors. Based on the standardized incidence ratio of syphilis for 22 administrative areas i…
Modeling and Preliminary Analysis of the Impact of Meteorological Conditions on the Covid-19 Epidemic
Since the COVID-19 epidemic outbreak at the end of 2019, many studies regarding the impact of meteorological factors on the attack have been carried out, and inconsistent conclusions have been reached, indicating the issue's complexity. To more accurately identify the effects and patterns of meteorological factors on the epidemic, we used a combination of logistic regression (LgR) and partial least squares regression (PLSR) modeling to investigat…
