    The Sandawe are of particular interest as one of the two remnant tribes in Tanzania which has a ‘click’ language. In this article their earlier history is considered in the light of their tribal structure and the impact of other tribes. Dr. ten Raa spent several years in Tanzania, including a period of research in Usandawe; he is now lecturing at the University of Western Australia
