Exploring the impacts of education and unemployment on CO2 emissions
The role of human capital and unemployment has been debated in a limited number of empirical studies that have aimed to study the discipline of environmental sustainability. Therefore, by Employing a reliable autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model approach, this study examines the dynamic linkage between education, unemployment, and CO2 emissions, by using the Chinese economy’s dataset from the time period pertaining to 1991–2020. The vivaci…
Will Smog Cause Mental Health Problems? Indication from a Microsurvey of 35 Major Cities in China
Using the survey data of 21,861 participants from 35 major cities in China in 2018 and 2019, the effect of air quality on participants' mental health was empirically tested based on the ordered probit model. The results showed that smog can significantly influence the mental health of participants. The better the air quality, the better the participants' mental health, while poor air quality results in poor mental health. The older and higher-pai…

Novel Non-Toxic Xylene Substitute (SBO) for Histology
Xylene has been generally used as a clearing and deparaffinizing agent in histology. Because of the potential toxic and flammable nature of xylene, its substitutes have been introduced into some laboratories. In this study, we introduced a novel, non-toxic xylene substitute (SBO), which was generated through a mixture of 86% of white oil No.2 and 14% of N-heptane. SBO had a high boiling point (188°C) and flash point (144°C) coupled with a scentle…
The impact of smoking and quitting on household expenditure patterns and medical care costs in China
If a household member smokes, there is less money available for commodities such as education and medical care. Medical care expenditure is substantially higher among households with quitters, as ill-health is the main reason for quitting smoking in China. Smoking impoverishes a substantial number of poorer rural households
