  • A Side-by-Side Single Sex Age-Structured Human Population Dynamic Model

Joan C Micó, Antonio Caselles et al.•ARTICLE•Journal of Mathematical Sociology•2008•Citada por: 3

A side-by-side single sex age-structured population dynamic model is presented in this paper. The model consists of two coupled von Foerster-McKendrick-type quasi-linear partial differential equations, two initial conditions, and two boundary conditions. The state variables of the model are male and female population densities. The solutions of these partial differential equations provide explicit time and age dependence of the variables. The ini…

  • Maternal consumption of pulque , a traditional central Mexican alcoholic beverage

    Open Access•Jeffrey R Backstrand, Lindsay H Allen et al.•ARTICLE•Public Health Nutrition•2001

Objectives: To document the consumption during pregnancy of pulque , a traditional central Mexican alcoholic beverage, and its relationship to subsequent infant size, physical growth and performance on the Bayley Scales of Infant Development. Design: Prospective cohort study. Setting: Six villages in rural, central Mexico in 1984–1985. Subjects: Seventy mother–infant pairs. Results: Most women (72.9%) consumed pulque during pregnancy, and 28.6% c…
