Overview of the Application of Generative Artificial Intelligence in Film Production
The rapid evolution of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is transforming the film industry. This article reviews key GenAI algorithms, including GANs, VAEs, diffusion models, and transformer-based architectures, and explores their application across various stages of film production, from scriptwriting to post-production. Through case studies such as The Frost and Netflix's AI-assisted projects, the study illustrates GenAI's creative pot…
From religious archetypes to folk icons
This article takes the Huishan clay figurine “Da A Fu” in Wuxi as its research object and introduces the concept of the “functional portraiture.” It emphasizes that its portraiture does not derive from individual realism, but is instead constructed through substitution and presence within local belief and ritual practice. The study systematically traces the historical connections between “Da A Fu” and traditional Chinese religious images, reveali…
Vegetation Greenness Changes in Northeast China Dominated by Climate Change and Ecological Restoration
Vegetation in Northeast China has undergone complex changes under the dual pressures of climate change and human activities. Quantifying long-term vegetation dynamics and identifying their key drivers are critical for regional sustainability, ecological engineering construction, and environmental conservation. Ecological restoration plays a pivotal role in vegetation protection and recovery in this region; however, it has often been overlooked as…
A dual-cycle peer evaluation model to enhance student feedback literacy
Studies have shown that peer evaluation is effective in improving learner feedback literacy and quality. However, evaluators have few opportunities to express their views in traditional peer evaluation. This study introduced backwards feedback based on traditional peer evaluation and constructed a dual-cycle peer evaluation model to enhance learner feedback literacy and quality. We analysed learners’ feedback literacy and quality before and after…

A Cognitive Study of the NP+de(的)+VP Structure in Mandarin
The article presents a cognitive account of the NP+de(的) +VP structure in Mandarin. By making its syntactic functions and cognitive motivations explicit, it shows that the relationship between the constituents of the structure is subject-predicate rather than modifier-head as claimed by previous studies. Based on the new proposals that the structure is exocentric and the particle de is a nominalizing infix, the article offers a possible solution …
Global Population Exposed to Extreme Events in the 150 Most Populated Cities of the World
Climate change driven increases in the frequency of extreme heat events (EHE) and extreme precipitation events (EPE) are contributing to both infectious and non-infectious disease burden, particularly in urban city centers. While the share of urban populations continues to grow, a comprehensive assessment of populations impacted by these threats is lacking. Using data from weather stations, climate models, and urban population growth during 1980-…
