Unified Fake News Detection Based on IoST-Driven Joint Detection Models
The advent of the Intelligence of Social Things (IoST) paradigm has created new prospects for improving false news detection by utilizing interconnected social networks, facilitating the amalgamation of many data sources including user behaviors, social interactions, and contextual information. Multiple techniques exist for identifying false information, with individual methods often concentrating on aspects such as news substance, social context…
Enhancing power quality in distribution networks using three-phase unified power quality conditioner (UPQC)
Handling Endogenous Regressors by Joint Estimation Using Copulas
We propose a new statistical instrument-free method to tackle the endogeneity problem. The proposed method models the joint distribution of the endogenous regressor and the error term in the structural equation of interest (the structural error) using a copula method, and it makes inferences on the model parameters by maximizing the likelihood derived from the joint distribution. Similar to the “exclusion restriction” in instrumental variable met…
Purchase-Frequency Bias in Random-Coefficients Brand-Choice Models
Conventional random-coefficients models of conditional brand choice using panel data ignore the dependence of the random-coefficients distribution on the purchase frequencies. We show that this leads to biased estimates and propose a conditional likelihood approach to obtain unbiased estimates. Unlike alternative approaches that require observation of “no-purchase” occasions, our proposed method relies only on purchase data. Furthermore, our appr…
Computer-tomographic (CT) studies and anthropological measurements in patients with atlanto-occipital fusion
Computer tomographic (CT) studies and anthropological measurements were performed in individuals showing complete or partial atlanto-occipital fusion. In 13 patients and 13 matched controls all measurements excepting head length and head breadth gave smaller, and in some instances significantly smaller values in the patients. The two head measurements, on the other hand, turned out to be somewhat, though not significantly larger. This suggested a…
