Patterns of police interactions with people experiencing homelessness and mental illness
To guide the prevention of policing in persons experiencing homelessness and mental illness, we examined police interactions in this population by combining data from At Home/Chez Soi and Montreal police databases (N= 454). We explored the types, initiators, locations, and mental health/judicial outcomes of interactions over four years, identifying sub-groups using latent class analysis and then comparing sociodemographic and psychosocial variabl…
Lifetime criminal justice involvement is not a barrier to Housing First effectiveness and cost-effectiveness

Method. This study examined whether the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of Housing First compared to usual services vary according to these profiles in parti…
From risky individuals to risky systems
Risk in forensic mental health is often shaped as an individual issue. But what if risk is also produced by the systems meant to provide care and safety? This paper introduces the Risk in Systems Framework , a conceptual model to understand how risk emerges not just within people, but also through institutional practices and structural inequalities. Drawing on established models from criminology, psychology, and public health, the framework explo…

These techniques convey the impression …

A Typology of Lifetime Criminal Justice Involvement Among Homeless Individuals With Mental Illness
This study aimed to characterize lifetime criminal involvement among homeless people with mental illness in Canada ( N = 1,682). A latent profile analysis yielded five classes. Most participants fell within the Fewer Needs (75.5%) group, characterized by less complex psychosocial histories and few criminal charges. Participants with Extensive Criminogenic Needs (5.0%) and Acute and Extensive Criminogenic Needs (5.0%) had more charges for justice …

L’analyse de six en…
