The relationship between patterns of depression changes and suicide among older women in Korea
Using data on causes of death(suicide) among older Korean women using data from the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging (KLoSA) from 2006 to 2020, we examined changes in depression levels among 405 women over a period of three years or more to examine the association between depression and suicide. The results of the authors' analysis indicate two primary depression trajectories: "maintaining" pattern (89.1%) and "rising" pattern (10.9%). The main…
Changes in depression trends during and after the Covid-19 pandemic among older adults in Korea
This study aimed to complement the previous studies conducted within a short period of time by examining the long-term trends in depression levels of older adults through a longitudinal study that includes the period following the onset of COVID-19. For analysis, this study used the data from the 12th (2017) through 16th (2021) Korea Welfare Panel Study, and 2,716 data of older adults 65 years and older were included. Variables included gender, a…
A study on longitudinal relationship between ultrafine dust and the prevalence of depression
Background Recently, the fine dust problem caused by rapid industrialization and science and technological development has emerged as a severe social issue worldwide. This also increases the interest in its effect on human life. In particular, there is a growing concern about the harm of fine dust in Korea. Methods This study is based on the PM 2.5 data from 2017 to 2021 provided by Air Korea to estimate changes in ultrafine dust. In addition, th…

Dose Effect of Phytosanitary Irradiation on the Postharvest Quality of Cut Flowers
The present study was conducted to determine the effects of electron beam irradiation on the postharvest quality of cut flowers. Cut flowers were irradiated with electron beam at 100, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1,000, and 2,000 Gy with a 10 MeV linear electron beam accelerator to evaluate their irradiation tolerance. Postharvest quality was determined by monitoring fresh weight loss, flower longevity, flower diameter, flowering rate, visual quality of f…
A Survey on Consumers’ Perception of Illegally Reused Standing Wreaths and the Introduction of New Standing Wreaths
The distribution of standing wreaths has reached about 7.1 million per year and the size of the standing wreath market is estimated to be at least 700 billion won. Among them, 20 to 30 percent are estimated to be reused, resulting in damage to flowerfarms' sales of 110 to 160 billion won per year. Due to the unique characteristics of conventional 3-tier standing wreaths in terms of transportation and installation, companies that lack design exper…
Effects of Plasma Activated Water on the Postharvest Quality of ‘Siberia’ Lily
This study was carried out to determine the effect of plasma activated water (PAW) on the postharvest quality of Lilium Oriental Hybrid cv. Siberia. Time-dependent concentration of hydrogen peroxide generated by underwater plasma apparatus was measured. Plasma activated water containing hydrogen peroxide was used as preservative solution and concentration of hydrogen peroxide was 300, 600, and 900 M (PAW300, PAW600, and PAW900), respectively. The…
