Drawing on the literature on person-culture fit, we investigated how culture (assessed as national-level familism), personality (tapped by attachment styles) and their interactions predicted social network characteristics in 21 nations/areas ( N = 2977). Multilevel mixed modeling showed that familism predicted smaller network size but greater density, tie strength, and multiplexity. Attachment avoidance predicted smaller network size, and lower d…
Compulsive Internet Use Scale for assessment of self-reported problematic internet use in primary school-aged children

Personal and Family Sociodemographic Correlates of Types of Online Activities in School-Aged Children
Children’s Internet Use Profiles in Relation to Behavioral Problems in Lithuania, Latvia, and Taiwan
This study explored the profiles of elementary-school-aged children’s Internet use in relation to their emotional and behavioral problems. Latent profile analysis …
Problems and Adaptive Functioning Reported by Adults in 17 Societies
This study tested for similarities and differences across societies in self-ratings of problems, personal strengths, and aspects of adaptive functioning on the Adult Self-Report (ASR) for nonclinical samples of adults ages 18 to 59 in 17 societies ( N = 10,197). Results indicated considerable consistency across societies regarding mean ratings on the ASR problem items. Most effect sizes (ESs) for societal differences in problem scales were small …

Complexity of change in ethnic tolerance following use of a Complex Instruction unit on the Holocaust in Latvia
Implementation of the first Complex Instruction (CI) based unit developed especially for Latvia focused on the Holocaust. It has provided an opportunity to examine issues of ethnic tolerance among Latvian high school students and teachers. Two independent studies were conducted by the first author to measure the impact of the unit. The first study compared the level of ethnic intolerance among students before and after participation in the CI-bas…
