This article examines the properties of the game as an instrument of argumentation and mediation between the Arabs and the Jews in selected postcards by Algerian illustrator and caricaturist Salomon Assus (1850-1919). Beneath the incongruity of two leisurely scenes depicting Algerian Muslims and Algerian Jews playing together, I argue that Assus promotes an open, ongoing dialogue in favor of their emancipation.
