  • Mechanophilia – a case report of a specific fetishistic disorder

Open Access•Péter Osváth, Franciska Könczöl et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

In our case report, we present a very rare variant of fetishism, mechanophilia, by describing a case from our forensic psychiatric practice. Mechanophilia is a form of fetishism classified as a paraphilia, when a person is sexually aroused by various vehicles, most often cars, less often bicycles or airplanes. We report on the forensic psychiatric examination of a middle-aged man, who opened the fuel filler openings of cars parked in the yard of …

  • Low-grade inflammatory parameters may be associated with recent suicide attempts – a naturalistic study among psychiatric inpatients with depressive disorders

Open Access•Csenge Lovig, Péter Osváth et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2026

Although elevated low-grade inflammatory parameters, particularly NLR and MLR, were observed in depressed patients with a recent suicide attempt, this study does not provide conclusive evidence for a direct association between suicide attempts and the investigated immune markers. Further research is needed to clarify this relationship between low-grade immune parameters and acute suicide attempts, to elucidate potential causal mechanisms, and to …

  • Investigation of peripheral inflammatory biomarkers in association with suicide risk in major depressive disorder

Open Access•B Pethö, Márton Kovács et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2024

Suicide is the most severe complication of major depressive disorder (MDD). Novel research assumes the role of immunological dysregulation in the background - several studies have reported alterations in the number of inflammatory cells related to both MDD and suicidality. There are currently no objective, routinely measured parameters to indicate suicidal vulnerability. However, altered inflammatory cell numbers and ratios have been proposed as …

  • Myths about suicide - validating the Hungarian version of the Literacy of Suicide Scale (H-Loss) on a community sample

Open Access•Richárd Flach, Robert Fodor et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2024
