  • The relationship between maternal psychopathology and maternal-fetal attachment

Open Access•Hana Němcová, Marie Kuklová et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Psychology•2025

Our results suggest that women experiencing increased depressive, but not anxiety, symptoms in pregnancy, have a poorer quality of attachment to their child, although the effect size is small. Consequently, treating prenatal depression in women could have a positive effect on maternal-fetal attachment

Open Access•Antonín Šebela, Anna Horakova et al.•ARTICLE•Psychosocial Intervention•2025

Objective: Untreated perinatal mental health disorders can have serious consequences for the whole family system. The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of peer support intervention in improving postpartum psychological distress. Method: We evaluated a remote peer support intervention, Mom Supports Mom, in a randomized controlled trial. The primary study outcome was the level of depressive symptoms at week six after delivery. …

As previous studies showed that obesity-related brain alterations may be reversible, our findings raise the possibility that improving the screening for and treatment of obesity and associated metabolic changes could preserve brain structure in FEP

Open Access•Michal Goetz, Tomáš Novák et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Psychiatry•2019

Background: Although a positive family history is the strongest predictor for bipolar disorder (BD), most offspring of BD parents (BO) will not develop the disorder. Identification of vulnerability markers for BD is essential for specific individual risk estimation. Impairments in cognitive functioning and the presence of specific temperament traits are considered promising candidates. Methods: Sixty-three BO (48% female; 11.8 ± 3.3 years) and 54…
