A Socio-Historical Mapping of Translation Fields
This study advances the application of Pierre Bourdieu’s social field as a heuristic conceptual tool in the context of translation studies, offering a methodological framework that integrates socio-historical analysis with bibliographical research. By exploring the field of Arabic translations of English self-help literature in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) between 1982 and 2016, the article illustrates how Bourdieu’s conceptualisation of soc…
Exploring the quality of life of school-aged children with disabilities in Saudi Arabia and their educational inclusion
According to this study findings, the quality of life of children with disabilities is not ideal. This study aimed to explore e-cigarette outcome expectancies and identify the associated sociodemographic characteristics among healthcare students. A cross-sectional questionnaire was distributed between December 2022 and June 2023 to all students within healthcare disciplines in Saudi Arabian universities. Data are presented as frequencies and percentages. The associated sociodemographic factors were subjected to logistic regression. 5,012 stud…
Comprehensive Assessment of Medical Clinic Departments
Modern medical clinics operate as interconnected ecosystems comprising various departments, each playing a vital role in patient care delivery. This article critically examines the dynamics of interdepartmental synergy within medical clinics, highlighting the benefits of collaboration, such as improved patient outcomes and operational efficiency. It also identifies persistent challenges, including communication barriers, resource constraints, and…
A Comprehensive Evaluation of Multimodal Analgesia Techniques in Postoperative Pain Administration
Background: The opioid epidemic has made efficient painkillers with little dependency on opioids desperately needed. Especially in orthopedic operations, multimodal analgesia (MMA) has become a complete strategy for controlling postoperative pain. Methods: With an eye on their effectiveness in lowering postoperative pain and opioid use, this review looks at the present research on multimodal pain treatment techniques. Studies on many analgesic ap…
A Socio-Historical Mapping of Translation Fields from Bourdieu’s Perspective
This article enhances the application of Pierre Bourdieu’s social field as a heuristic conceptual tool for delineating the boundaries of translations as fields of cultural production, integrated with bibliographical research. Background: Tobacco smoking is one of the most significant health-related problems worldwide. However, the prevalence and sociodemographic determinants of tobacco and nicotine use among students on healthcare courses in Saudi Arabia are limited. Methods: This cross-sectional study used a questionnaire that was distributed via SurveyMonkey between November 2022 and June 2023 to all student universities offering healthcare courses. Data are present…
Diagnostic Accuracy of Flow Cytometric DNA Index in Saudi Children with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia
B cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B-ALL) is one of the most common types of cancer diagnosed in children in Saudi Arabia. Cytogenetic investigations, including karyotyping and FISH, are used to determine the incidence and prognostic significance of chromosomal abnormalities in B-ALL. However, in ALL, accurate identification of the morphology of chromosomes is sometimes not achieved. Flow cytometric DI may have the advantage of being technicall…
Burnout, Resilience, Supervisory Support, and Quitting Intention among Healthcare Professionals in Saudi Arabia
Burnout is common among HCPs across all clinical settings and is associated with higher intention to quit and low resilience and supervisory support. Workplace management should provide a supportive workplace to reduce burnout symptoms and promote resiliency
Physicians’ Perceptions of and Barriers to Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation for Heart Failure Patients in Saudi Arabia
CR is an effective management strategy for HF patients, but the lack of CR centers is a major barrier to the referral of patients. A hospital-supervised program is the preferred method of delivering CR from the general physicians' perspective, while cardiac doctors prefer home-based CR programs. Apart from the exercise component, information about HF disease and symptom management is essential components of CR programs from general physicians' an…
Burnout and Resilience among Respiratory Therapy (RT) Students during Clinical Training in Saudi Arabia
The findings showed a high prevalence of burnout among RT students and interns during clinical training in Saudi Arabia. Resilience was associated with all domains of burnout and is likely to play a protective role. Therefore, there is a need for collaborative interventions to promote resiliency during clinical training to alleviate and overcome burnout symptoms
