Testing culturally relevant EQ-5D-5L bolt-ons for the Chinese general population
Measuring health-related quality of life in infants and toddlers
Measuring health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in the very young (i.e., infants and toddlers, aged 0–47 months) presents unique conceptual and methodological challenges. As infants and toddlers cannot reliably self-report their HRQoL, observer inference is necessary. This raises questions about which concepts should be included; how to manage proxy reporting; and how to capture genuine variations in HRQoL, not changes in development or assessme…
Qualitative testing of the EQ-HWB-9 with a ‘blank’ EQ-HWB VAS and EQ-5D-5L with skin bolt-ons in a rare genetic skin disease population
Epidermal differentiation disorders (EDDs) are rare genetic skin disorders that significantly impact patients’ health and wellbeing. This study assessed the content validity of two experimental EuroQol instruments (EQ-5D-5Lbolt-ons and EQ-HWB-9) and explored potential endpoint options for a visual analogue scale (VAS) for EQ-HWB-9 in this population. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 adult patients with EDDs at a university dermat…
Estimating the minimal clinically important difference for the Myasthenia Gravis Quality of Life revised scale (MG-QOL15R)
To estimate the minimal clinically important difference (MCID) for the MG-QOL15R. Data from two multi-country myasthenia gravis studies were used: the ADAPT RCT (n = 157) and the MyRealWorld-MG (MRW-MG) survey (n = 92). MCIDs were estimated using four anchor-based methods: change difference (CD), receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve with Area Under the Curve (AUC), linear regression, and equipercentile linking. MG-Activities of Daily Liv…
Unconscious death thoughts
Several factors influence the Time Trade-off (TTO) and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) health measures. In qualitative TTO studies, respondents often report thoughts of death which may induce mortality awareness. According to Terror Management Theory (TMT), mortality awareness gives rise to anxiety and increases unconscious death thought accessibility (DTA), potentially mitigated by secure attachment. Therefore a relation between DTA and attachment v…
Identifying and developing culturally relevant EQ-5D-5L bolt-on items for Chinese population
Valuing health‐related quality of life
Morocco is the third country in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region with an EQ-5D-5L value set. This study supports the use of EQ-5D-5L data for healthcare decision-making in the Moroccan context
The psychometric performance of the EQ-5D-5L composite and component items in the U.S. General population and by age group
EQ-5D-5L items, self-care (SC), pain/discomfort (PD), and anxiety/depression (AD), are composites of two components. While PD (comprised of pain [PN] and discomfort [DI]) and AD (comprised of anxiety [AN] and depression [DE]) have been extensively studied, SC (comprised of washing self [WA] and dressing self [DR]) remains underexplored. Additionally, to our knowledge, the psychometric performance of composites versus components has never been inv…
Associations between financial toxicity, health-related quality of life, and well-being in Indonesian patients with breast cancer
This study is the first to explore the associations between financial toxicity, EQ-5D-5L, and EQ-HWB outcomes in breast cancer. Our findings provide insight into the cancer burden and its link to health and well-being
Exploring the content validity of the EQ-5D-5L and four bolt-ons (skin irritation, self-confidence, sleep, social relationships) in atopic dermatitis and chronic urticaria
This study assessed the content validity of four EQ-5D-5L bolt-ons within two patient populations. Skin irritation, self-confidence and sleep bolt-ons showed good evidence of content validity for people with AD and CU, providing support for their application in other skin conditions. The value of a social relationships bolt-on was less clear. Quantitative psychometric research is recommended to further support the use of bolt-ons in CU and AD
Qualitative evidence on EQ-5D-5L skin irritation and self-confidence bolt-ons in Darier’s disease and Hailey-Hailey disease
Our findings suggest that there is no actionable evidence indicating gaps in the content validity of the EQ-5D-5L with two bolt-ons in Darier's and Hailey-Hailey disease. Future studies are encouraged to conduct quantitative psychometric testing of the bolt-ons in this and other chronic dermatological patient populations
Hungarian PROMIS-29+2
The Hungarian PROMIS-29+2 shows satisfactory psychometric properties; however, the sleep disturbance domain substantially underperforms that requires further attention. Population reference values were generated that facilitate the interpretation of health outcomes in various patient populations
Time perspective profile and self-reported health on the EQ-5D
This study identified response heterogeneity stemming from psychological characteristics in self-reported health on the EQ-5D-5L. TP seems to play a double role in self-reported health, firstly as affecting underlying health and secondly as a factor influencing one's response behavior. These findings increase our understanding of the non-health-related factors that affect self-reported health on standardized health status measures
Health utilities and willingness to pay in adult patients with coeliac disease in Hungary
This is the first study to report TTO utilities for CD health states. Strict adherence to the GFD may result in substantial health gains in symptomatic patients. Utilities and WTP results can be used to estimate benefits of GFD in cost-utility and cost-benefit analyses
Content validity of the EQ-5D-5L with skin irritation and self-confidence bolt-ons in patients with atopic dermatitis
The EQ-5D-5L with skin irritation and self-confidence bolt-ons showed good relevance, comprehensiveness and comprehensibility in patients with AD. However, in terms of comprehensiveness, social relationships and judgement by others (stigma) may be missing from the questionnaire
Hungarian population norms for the 15D generic preference-accompanied health status measure
This study provided 15D population norms of the Hungarian general population; furthermore, this is the first study to provide population norms for the 15D in any country. The values established in this study can serve as benchmarks for evaluating efficacy outcomes in clinical trials, quantifying disease burden and identifying unmet needs
A qualitative investigation of the relevance of skin irritation and self-confidence bolt-ons and their conceptual overlap with the EQ-5D in patients with psoriasis
The skin irritation and self-confidence bolt-ons contribute to improve content validity of the EQ-5D-5L in patients with psoriasis. The qualitative approach taken in this study expands the existing methodological framework for the development and testing validity of bolt-ons for the EQ-5D
The measurement performance of the EQ-5D-5L versus EQ-5D-3L in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa
In patients with HS, the EQ-5D-5L outperformed the EQ-5D-3L in feasibility, ceiling effects, informativity and known-groups validity for many important clinical characteristics. We recommend using the EQ-5D-5L in HS patients across various settings, including clinical care, research and economic evaluations
A Rasch model analysis of two interpretations of ‘not relevant’ responses on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI)
Missing-scoring NRRs resulted in an improved measurement performance of the scale. DLQI scores of patients with at least one vs. no NRRs cannot be directly compared. Our findings provide further empirical support to the DLQI-R scoring modification that treats NRRs as missing and replaces them with the average score of the relevant items
Measurement properties of the Icecap-A capability well-being instrument among dermatological patients
This is the first study to validate a capability well-being measure in patients with dermatological conditions. The ICECAP-A was found to be a valid tool to assess capability well-being in dermatological patients. Future work is recommended to test measurement properties of ICECAP-A in chronic inflammatory skin conditions
Validation of the Hungarian version of the CarerQol instrument in informal caregivers
Our findings confirmed the validity of the Hungarian language version of the CarerQol and support the cross-cultural validity of the instrument. CarerQol-7D scores performed better in distinguishing caregiving situation characteristics than the general happiness measure CarerQol-VAS. Care recipients' health status was only weakly associated with informal caregivers' care-related quality of life and happiness. Caregivers' own health and caregiving…
Capability of well-being
This is the first study to provide ICECAP-A/-O population norms. Also, it is the first to explore associations with WHO-5 well-being index which, alongside the MEHM measures, enable estimates from routinely collected international health statistics. The Hungarian ICECAP-A/-O proved to be valid and reliable measurement tools. Socio-demographic characteristics had minor or no impact on ICECAP-A/-O. Other influencing factors deserve further investig…
