  • Patient-Reported Outcomes in Children Undergoing the Modified Green Procedure for Treating Sprengel’s Deformity

Open Access•Giovanni Trisolino, Paola Zarantonello et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2024

Sprengel's Deformity (SD) is a rare condition of the shoulder girdle, appearing as the principal congenital anomaly of the shoulder in paediatric patients. The aim of this study is to document the combined experience of two paediatric orthopaedic departments in managing SD using the modified Green Procedure, with a specific emphasis on the clinical and functional outcomes reported by patients; Methods: from June 2010 to February 2023, 42 shoulder…

  • Health-related quality of life and associated risk factors in patients with Multiple Osteochondromas

Open Access•Manila Boarini, Morena Tremosini et al.•ARTICLE•Quality of Life Research•2024

Increasing age and surgical procedures were found highly associated with reduced health-related quality of life in Multiple Osteochondromas patients. Our findings provide relevant information to support the establishment of patient-centered healthcare pathways and pave the way for further research into medical and non-medical therapeutic strategies for these patients

  • Neglected Fractures of the Lateral Humeral Condyle in Children; Which Treatment for Which Condition

Open Access•Giovanni Trisolino, Diego Antonioli et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2021

Our study describes outcomes from a cohort of children undergoing different treatments for neglected LHC fractures. Prolonged time interval between injury and treatment and perioperative major complications negatively impacted the treatment outcomes. Our findings strengthen the requirement for widely agreed guidelines of surgical management in neglected LHC fractures

  • Outcomes of Temporary Hemiepiphyseal Stapling for Correcting Genu Valgum in Children with Multiple Osteochondromas

Open Access•Giovanni Trisolino, Manila Boarini et al.•ARTICLE•Children•2021

Temporary hemiepiphyseal stapling is effective in both idiopathic and multiple osteochondromas children, although the latter often achieved incomplete correction, had a higher risk of complications, and required a longer time of stapling. We suggest to anticipate the timing of intervention; otherwise, children with multiple osteochondromas and severe valgus deformity, approaching skeletal maturity, could undergo combined femoral and tibial stapli…

  • Microplastic Contamination in Snow from Western Italian Alps

Open Access•Marco Parolini, Diego Antonioli et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Recent studies have documented the presence of microplastics (MPs) in remote areas, including soils or sediments collected in mountain and glacier environments, but information on their presence in snow is scant. The present study aimed at exploring the presence of MPs in residual snow collected in four locations of the Aosta Valley (Western Italian Alps), with different accessibility and human presence. Overall, the μ-FTIR analyses confirmed the…
