Radon mitigation in the workplace in Spain
To evaluate radon mitigation frequency and possible determinants for mitigation among employers in Spain, before the new regulation came into force. We also aimed to assess the reasons for not mitigating radon. In this cross-sectional study, participants were systematically identified from all employers in Spain who had previously measured occupational radon through the Galician Radon Laboratory from 2015 until 2022. Employers responsible for at …

Attributable mortality to secondhand tobacco smoke exposure in the 27 Brazilian federal units in 2019
In Brazil, exposure to SHS is estimated to cause between 30 and 60 deaths per day. The mortality rates varied across federal units. Differences in the risk sources and the selection of health outcomes significantly influence mortality estimates. These findings underscore the importance of strengthening the enforcement of tobacco control policies by health authorities in Brazil
Consumption of hypnosedatives in Spain
To analyze the evolution of hypnosedative use in the Spanish population aged 15 to 64 (2005-2022), identifying regional variations and changes in users profile. We used data from the Survey on the Use of Alcohol and other Drugs in Spain. Past 30-day use was analyzed by sex, age and autonomous community between 2005 and 2022. A multivariate logistic regression was used to identify characteristics of consumption; the temporal trend of prevalence an…
An Innovative Tool to Control Occupational Radon Exposure
After smoking, indoor radon is the main contributor to lung cancer in many countries. The European Union (EU) Directive 2013/59/Euratom establishes a maximum reference level of 300 Bq/m 3 of radon concentration in the workplace, and an effective dose limit of 20 mSv per year for workers. If the radon concentration in a workplace exceeds the reference level, constructive mitigation applies. When constructive mitigation is not feasible, we propose …
