Gut Microbiota Composition and Sleep in Preschoolers
While emerging evidence suggests correlations between gut microbiota and sleep in preschool children, our results do not confirm such correlations. The data used in this study were obtained from a homogeneous, high socioeconomic population, which must be considered when interpreting the findings. Further research is needed to validate the results of this study
Comorbid Insomnia and Sleep Apnea Across the Pediatric Age
Unlike in adults, the present findings do not support a mutual association between OSA and insomnia in children. OSA severity was lower in children with COMISA. Anxiety levels were higher in children with insomnia, regardless of the presence of OSA, suggesting that anxiety should be assessed in all children with OSA
Maturation of Arousals during Day and Night in Preterm Infants
The objective of this study was to compare the maturation of spontaneous arousals during day and night sleep in preterm and term infants. From the Autonomic Baby Evaluation study, the sleep and arousal characteristics of 12 preterm (35.1 ± 2.1 weeks' gestational age, GA) and 21 term (39.8 ± 0.8 weeks GA) newborns were compared between diurnal and nocturnal sleep periods at birth (M0) and 6 months (M6) of age. Models were adjusted for time (night/…
TV, computer, tablet and smartphone use and autism spectrum disorder risk in early childhood
Overall, our nationally-representative study conducted among a large sample of 2-year-old children, indicates a complex relationship between screen exposure and ASD risk
Infant feeding practices and sleep at 1 year of age in the nationwide Elfe cohort
Sleep problems reported by parents affect 20% to 30% of infants. Few studies focused on the longitudinal association between infant feeding practices and sleep, especially in France. Analyses were based on 8,696 infants from the French national birth cohort ELFE. Collection of feeding practices from birth to 10 months allowed for the identification of trajectories of use of baby cereals and thickened formula by group-based trajectory modelling an…
