Is the association between precarious employment and mental health mediated by economic difficulties in males? Results from two Italian studies
Even with the limitations of a cross-sectional design, this research supports that precarious employment contributes through financial strain to reduce the mental health related quality of life and to increase mental disorders such as symptoms of depression or dysthymia. The variation in the health status of immigrants and Italians during the global crisis and the role of socioeconomic factors
Our findings support the hypothesis that economic global crisis could have negatively affected health status, particularly mental health, of Italians and immigrants. Furthermore, results suggest socioeconomic inequalities increase, in economic resources availability dimension.
