  • Effect of illness perception on self-regulatory fatigue in older adult patients with hypertension

Open Access•Tingting Lu, Lihua Shi et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2025

Purpose: Long-term self-control becomes necessary for older adult patients with hypertension to sustain their blood pressure levels and postpone disease progression. Over extended periods, such self-control capacity among patients experiences gradual depletion, which leads to self-regulatory fatigue. Nevertheless, the connection linking disease perception, self-efficacy, coping style, and self-regulatory fatigue remains unexplored in existing stu…

  • Attitude towards aging and anxiety in the relationship between social alienation and depression in Chinese rural empty-nest older adults

Open Access•Zhaoquan Jiang, Hengjie Ren et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2025

Our findings suggest that social alienation impacts depression among Chinese rural empty-nest older adults through the pathways of attitude towards aging and anxiety symptoms. Consequently, efforts aimed at preventing depression rooted in social alienation among this demographic should address both attitudes towards aging and mental health concerns

  • Stress Prediction Based on Chaos Theory and an Event–Behavior–Stress Triangle Model

Open Access•Ningyun Li, Ling Feng et al.•ARTICLE•IEEE Transactions on Computational…•2024

Predicting stress can help people take timely action to manage stress before potential physical and psychological problems arise. In this study, we analyze and verify chaotic features of human's stress response to stressor and uplift events, and present an event–behavior–stress triangle model for stress prediction. We reconstruct the phase space based on chaos theory, and integrate stress-correlated pre and postfactors (events and behaviors) thro…
