The Role of Appearance in Peer Interactions for Early Adolescent Cleft Lip and Palate Patients Post-Repair
Despite the ability to perceive residual craniofacial differences, appearance alone did not significantly affect social interactions for early adolescent children with surgically repaired CLP in Taiwan. This suggests that other factors may play a larger role in social dynamics within this population
Trends in energy and macronutrient intake among Taiwanese older adults in 1999–2000, 2005–2008 and 2013–2016 periods
Our study provides important evidence on the dietary patterns, as well as their changes over time among Taiwanese older adults. Such information would be useful for health policy makers about the burden of unbalanced diet and for nutrition educators on planning nutrition promotion interventions about well-balanced dietary for the older persons
Frailty status changes are associated with healthcare utilization and subsequent mortality in the elderly population
The conditions associated with frailty status, either after 1 year or at baseline, significantly affected the outpatient visits and may have increased medical expenditures. Combined change in frailty status and number of outpatient visits is related to increased mortality
Successful aging defined by health-related quality of life and its determinants in community-dwelling elders
Successful aging was associated with age, frail status, chronic health-related problems and psychosocial support. However, whether or not these associations are causal requires further exploration
Metabolic syndrome is associated with change in subclinical arterial stiffness - A community-based Taichung Community Health Study
MetS affects the subject's progression to arterial stiffness. Arterial stiffness increased as the number of MetS components increased. Management of MetS is important for preventing the progression to advanced arterial stiffness
Sex difference in the association of metabolic syndrome with high sensitivity C-reactive protein in a Taiwanese population
Our data suggest that inflammatory processes may be of particular importance in the pathogenesis of metabolic syndrome in women
The relationship of high sensitivity C-reactive protein to percent body fat mass, body mass index, waist-to-hip ratio, and waist circumference in a Taiwanese population
Our study demonstrates that %FM is the only obesity indicator that is strongly associated with a high level of hs-CRP after adjusting for sociodemographic factors, lifestyle behaviors and components of metabolic syndrome in both genders in a Taiwanese population aged forty years and over. In men, %FM had the greatest ability to classify subjects with a high level of hs-CRP when only demographic and lifestyle behaviors were considered. Our study f…
Carthamus tinctorius L. prevents LPS-induced TNFα signaling activation and cell apoptosis through JNK1/2–NFκB pathway inhibition in H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells
The relation of metabolic syndrome according to five definitions to cardiovascular risk factors - a population-based study
The associations of these five definitions with cardiovascular risk factors were similar in women, and it was evident that the five definitions performed better in women than in men, with higher ORs observed in relation to arterial stiffness, elevated hs-CRP, and higher Framingham risk scores
Association between television viewing and the risk of metabolic syndrome in a community-based population
The findings suggest that TV viewing is an independent risk factor associated with metabolic syndrome in Taiwanese people
Metabolic syndrome in a Taiwanese metropolitan adult population
MetS was present in more than 30% of the Taiwan adult population aged 40 years and over in a metropolitan area; there were substantial variations by age and body mass index groups
