  • Long-acting prescriptions and therapy for HIV-1 from market launch to the present in Germany (May 2021 to December 2023)

Open Access•Daniel Schmidt, Christian Kollan et al.•ARTICLE•Frontiers in Public Health•2024

Background: In Europe, the combination of cabotegravir (CAB) with rilpivirine (RPV) has been approved as a dual injection long-acting (LA) therapy for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infections in adults since December 2020. Studies have shown that between 36 and 61% of people living with HIV (PLWHIV) prefer LA therapy. However, there are no real-world data on the number of people receiving LA therapy, in Germany or i…

  • Everything counts - a method to determine viral suppression among people living with HIV using longitudinal data for the HIV care continuum - results of two large, German, multi-center real-life cohor…

Open Access•the HIV-1 Seroconverter cohort, Daniel Schmidt et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2021

We provide a method for estimating viral suppression and duration of viremia using longitudinal VL data. We observed a continuous and remarkable increase of viral suppression. Furthermore, a notable proportion of those with viremia showed low-level viremia and were therefore unlikely to transmit HIV. Individual health risks and HIV drug resistance among those with low-level viremia are problematic, and viral suppression remains the goal. In 2018,…

  • From pills to patients

Open Access•Daniel Schmidt, Christian Kollan et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2015

A substantial increase in the number of people receiving ART was observed from 2006 to 2013 in Germany

  • GB virus C infection and quality of life in HIV-positive patients

    Hans L Tillmann, Michael P Manns et al.•ARTICLE•AIDS Care•2004

It was recently shown that GBV-C infection is associated with prolonged survival of HIV-infected individuals. The GB virus C is the closest known relative of hepatitis C virus in man. The latter has been associated with significant impairment in quality of life, independent from the associated liver disease. We were thus interested in the impact of GB virus C infection on quality of life in HIV-infected individuals. We retrospectively analyzed a …

  • Defizite der sozioökonomischen und psychosozialen Unterstützung HIV-positiver Frauen

    E Schulte, Elaine E Schulte et al.•ARTICLE•Das Gesundheitswesen•2000

Despite increasing numbers of heterosexually transmitted HIV-infected women and high numbers of female i.v.-drug users within HIV-infected population the subject of HIV-infection in women has been of low interest during the past years in Germany. This prospective study investigated the economic, social and psychological situation with regard to the special situation of this group. While there was no difference in clinical parameters we found a wo…
