Pre-lacteal feeding practices and associated factors among mothers of children under 24 months age in Ethiopia
Pre-lacteal feeding was higher and continues to be a significant practice in Ethiopia, shaped by maternal characteristics, sociodemographic factors, and geographic location. Mothers in pastoralist regions are more likely to practice pre-lacteal feeding which needs the implementation of mobile maternal health services. The spatial analysis identified potential hotspots areas where interventions are urgently needed. To reduce pre-lacteal feeding ra…
Spatio-temporal distributions and determinants of diarrhea among under-five children in Ethiopia
Objective The purpose of this study was to evaluate the spatio-temporal pattern of Ethiopia’s childhood diarrheal disease and identify its contributing factors. Methods We conducted analyses on secondary data from four Ethiopian Demographic and Health Surveys conducted between 2000 and 2016. Moran’s I was used to determine spatial dependence and spatial models were used to evaluate variables associated with diarrhea in under-five children at the …
Bayesian modeling of quantiles of body mass index among under-five children in Ethiopia
In conclusion, the research findings indicate that the percentage of lower and higher BMI for under-five children in Ethiopia is high. Factors such as the current age of children, sex of children, maternal age, religion of the family, region and wealth index were found to have a significant impact on the BMI of under-five children both at lower and upper quantile levels. Thus, these findings highlight the need for administrators and policymakers …
Joint Modeling of Exam Results and Attrition Status of Students at Hawassa College of Education, Ethiopia
Student attrition is a challenge for higher education institutions across the world. The purpose of this study was to examine the application of joint model using students’ commutative grade point average and attrition status. A total of 258 college student samples were used in this study. A mixed effect model for students’ grade point average and a Cox hazard model for students’ attrition status were modeled independently, and both submodels wer…
