Global burden and trend of tuberculosis in children and adolescents (under 15 years old) from 1990 to 2021, with projections to 2040
Background: Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant global health issue, but its burden among children and adolescents under 15 years old is not well quantified. This study evaluates TB trends in this age group from 1990 to 2021 and projects future trends through 2040. Methods: We used data from the Global Burden of Disease Study (GBD) 2021 to assess the incidence and mortality of TB in children and adolescents (under 15) from 1990 to 2021. A Bay…
Association between sleep quality and mild cognitive impairment in Chinese patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Among Chinese patients with T2DM, poor overall sleep quality, subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency, sleep disturbance, and daily dysfunction were associated with higher rates of MCI. Future studies are needed to examine whether sleep intervention could improve cognitive function in patients with T2DM. It is also suggested for clinicians working with T2DM patients to raise the awareness of cognitive impairment …
Willingness to receive the second booster of Covid-19 vaccine among older adults with cancer
Background Despite the elevated COVID-19 risk for older adults with cancer, vaccine hesitancy poses a significant barrier to their immunization. Intriguingly, there is limited research on the prevalence of willingness to receive the second booster dose and associated determinants in older adults with cancer. Objective Our objective was to ascertain the level of awareness about COVID-19 vaccines and to uncover the factors influencing the willingne…
Low uptake of Covid-19 booster doses among elderly cancer patients in China
Background: Vaccination is a crucial measure to control the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. The elderly and cancer populations both are more susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 and have higher mortality. However, the uptake of COVID-19 vaccine booster doses among elderly cancer patients remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and associates of COVID-19 vaccine booster doses uptake in elderly cancer patients. …
