Systematic Review
Background : Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a leading cause of lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI) in infants and young children, with significant morbidity, hospitalizations, and healthcare costs. Passive immunoprophylaxis has historically relied on palivizumab, while nirsevimab, a long-acting monoclonal antibody, has recently emerged as an alternative and has broader indications. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of randomiz…
Incidence and Characteristics of Pediatric Patients with Acute Otitis Hospitalized in a Romanian Infectious Diseases Hospital
Our study highlights the importance of ENT (ear, nose, and throat) monitoring in children hospitalized for acute infectious diseases, as the majority of AO cases occur in the context of a viral infection. These findings emphasize the necessity for tailored assessment and intervention in suspected cases of AO, especially in young children under 5 years of age
Influenza epidemiology and influenza vaccine effectiveness during the 2016–2017 season in the Global Influenza Hospital Surveillance Network (GIHSN)
Vaccination prevented around 1 in 4 hospitalisations with influenza. Sparse numbers didn't allow estimating IVE in all sites separately. Pregnancy was found a risk factor for influenza, having 3 times more risk of being admitted with influenza for pregnant women
