Knowledge and integration of social determinants of health among physiotherapists in Spain
Spanish physiotherapists recognize certain SDH, particularly occupation, social support, and socioeconomic status, as highly relevant to health, but often underintegrate them into clinical reasoning-especially determinants such as sexual orientation, religion, and gender. Findings suggest that postgraduate training and community activities are associated with higher integration; these may be targets for future interventions. These strategies could…
Perceived Experiences of Families of Children with Unilateral Cerebral Palsy in the Implementation of a Task-Specific Intervention in the Home Environment with an Upper Limb Splint
The perceptions of the parents after the specific task intervention in the home environment showed a greater integration of the most affected side. Nevertheless, although the support of a splint on the hand can have beneficial results in terms of performance, other drawbacks leading to the disuse of the splint were highlighted
Postural Control and Sensory Processing in Preschool Children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder
The role of sensory processing in maintaining postural control (PC) among preschool-aged children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) remains underexplored despite its potential implications for their developmental trajectory. This study aimed to assess the utilization of sensory information for PC maintenance while standing in preschool-aged children with ASD and to examine its correlation with PC during functional tasks using a standardized too…
Effectiveness of a Telecare Physical Therapy Program in Improving Functionality in Children and Adolescents with Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral palsy (CP) is the most common physical disability in childhood and results in motor impairment that is often associated with other disorders. The aim of this study was to assess whether a telecare intervention consisting of Action Observation Therapy with a family-center approach produces improvements in functionality in children and adolescents with CP. Seven girls with CP ages between 6 and 17 participated in this case series study tha…
Ultrasound-Guided Percutaneous Neuromodulation in Patients with Chronic Lateral Epicondylalgia
Both groups showed no differences in the baseline measurements (all p = 0.001). However, at the end of the treatment, there were significant differences between groups since only the PNM group significantly improved their values compared to their baseline values: level of pain and cross-sectional area (CSA) values showed a significant decrease while the PRTEE scores showed a significant improvement. Then, regarding AI, the PNM group showed signif…
Spanish Cross-Cultural Adaptation of the Wisconsin Gait Scale
the Spanish version of the WGS was developed through a process of cross-cultural adaptation from its original English version, and, according to an expert committee, it had an excellent content validity
Heart Rate Variability Monitoring during Interferential Current Application in the Lower Back Area
Vasovagal reactions may occur occasionally during electrical stimulation using interferential current (IFC). The purpose of this study was to examine variations in autonomic activity during the application of IFC in asymptomatic participants by analysis of their heart rate variability (HRV). Seventy-three male volunteers were randomly assigned to a placebo group ( n = 36; HRV was documented for 10 min, both at rest and during a placebo interventi…
Citation Network Study on the Use of New Technologies in Neurorehabilitation
New technologies in neurorehabilitation is a wide concept that intends to find solutions for individual and collective needs through technical systems. Analysis through citation networks is used to search scientific literature related to a specific topic. On the one hand, the main countries, institutions, and authors researching this topic have been identified, as well as their evolution over time. On the other hand, the links between the authors…
New Motherhood Concepts, Implications for Healthcare. A Qualitative Study
The aim of this study was to explore the experience of women who take care of their children in postpartum and who desire to be understood by society, with no judgements. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology was followed. In-depth interviews, discussion groups, and an online forum were used for data collection. The participants were Spanish women that had given birth in the past 6 months, and their partners. Healthcare specialists with exp…
Professional and Personal Physical Therapist Development through Service Learning in Collaboration with a Prisoner Reinsertion Program
There is a great concern whether Physical Therapy students upon completion of their educational program are ready and equipped with the requisite skills to construct and implement a successful patient intervention with culturally diverse groups. The purpose of this study is to describe the professional and personal physical therapist development of Physical Therapy students after participating in Solidarity Activities in Collaboration with a Pris…
