  • Building better conversations

Open Access•Drew Cameron, Laura Grage et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2026

The COVID-19 pandemic has been accompanied by a proliferation of health misinformation, waning trust in health providers, and persistent vaccine hesitancy. To confront these challenges, a research team based in Alaska developed and pilot-tested an online training program called Building Better Conversations. Between July and September 2022, we delivered a total of nine trainings to 116 community members in Alaska, including health professionals, …

  • Current out of pocket care costs among HIV and hypertension co-morbid patients in urban and peri-urban Uganda

Open Access•Drew Cameron, Lillian Morrell et al.•ARTICLE•PLOS Global Public Health•2024

Background Despite improvements to the cascade of HIV care in East Africa, access to care for non-communicable disease co-morbidities like hypertension (HTN) remains a persistent problem. The integration of care for these conditions presents an opportunity to achieve efficiencies in delivery as well as decrease overall costs for patients. This study aims to build evidence on the burden of current out-of-pocket costs of care among HIV-HTN co-morbi…

  • Covid-19 outbreak in a state prison

Open Access•Catherine Dp Duarte, Catherine Duarte et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

Our adapted framework facilitates systematically assessing prison-based infectious disease outbreaks and multi-level interventions. We find implementing some recommended public health strategies may have contributed to outbreak containment. However, even with a rapidly mobilized, inter-institutional response, failure to decarcerate created an overreliance on chance conditions. This left the facility vulnerable to future catastrophic outbreaks and…

  • Heterogeneous Effects of Urban Land Titling

Edward M Whitney, Drew Cameron et al.•ARTICLE•The Journal of Development Studies•2019

We replicate the analysis of Sebastian Galiani and Ernesto Shargrodsky’s (GS) influential 2010 article ‘Property rights for the poor: effects of land titling’. GS use a natural experiment in a poor urban area of Buenos Aires to find that land titling increases housing investment, reduces household size, and increases child education, but does not do so through increased use of credit. The original questionnaires and raw data are not available and…

  • Developing the Global Health Cost Consortium Unit Cost Study Repository for HIV and TB

Open Access•Willyanne Decormier Plosky, Lori Bollinger et al.•ARTICLE•African Journal of AIDS Research•2019

Consistently defined, accurate, and easily accessible cost data are a valuable resource to inform efficiency analyses, budget preparation, and sustainability planning in global health. The Global Health Cost Consortium (GHCC) designed the Unit Cost Study Repository (UCSR) to be a resource for standardised HIV and TB intervention cost data displayed by key characteristics such as intervention type, country, and target population. To develop the UC…
