  • Teachers’ Health

Open Access•Mélèa Saïd, Sofia Temam et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

Teachers' health is a key factor of any successful education system, but available data are conflicting. To evaluate to what extent teachers' health could be at risk, we used pre-pandemic data from the CONSTANCES population-based French cohort (inclusion phase: 2012-2019) and compared teachers (n = 12,839) included in the cohort with a random subsample selected among all other employees (n = 32,837) on four self-reported health indicators: percei…

  • What Levers to Promote Teachers’ Wellbeing during the Covid-19 Pandemic and Beyond

Open Access•Nathalie Billaudeau, Stéphanie Alexander et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2022

To highlight effective levers to promote teachers' wellbeing worldwide, particularly during difficult times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, we investigated work-related factors associated with teacher wellbeing, across borders and cultures. In six countries/territories, we examined the factors that were most consistently and strongly associated with two indicators of wellbeing at work: (i) job satisfaction; and (ii) work/life balance, and three in…

  • Comparison of a Barcode-Based Smartphone Application to a Questionnaire to Assess the Use of Cleaning Products at Home and Their Association with Asthma Symptoms

Open Access•Pierre Lemire, Sofia Temam et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2021

Household disinfectant and cleaning products (HDCPs) assessment is challenging in epidemiological research. We hypothesized that a newly-developed smartphone application was more objective than questionnaires in assessing HDCPs. Therefore, we aimed to compare both methods, in terms of exposure assessments and respiratory health effects estimates. The women of the SEPAGES birth cohort completed repeated validated questionnaires on HDCPs and respir…

  • The Role of Socioeconomic Status in the Association of Lung Function and Air Pollution—A Pooled Analysis of Three Adult Escape Cohorts

Open Access•Dirk Keidel, Josep Maria Antó et al.•ARTICLE•International Journal of…•2019

Ambient air pollution is a leading environmental risk factor and its broad spectrum of adverse health effects includes a decrease in lung function. Socioeconomic status (SES) is known to be associated with both air pollution exposure and respiratory function. This study assesses the role of SES either as confounder or effect modifier of the association between ambient air pollution and lung function. Cross-sectional data from three European multi…

  • Ability of ecological deprivation indices to measure social inequalities in a French cohort

Open Access•Sofia Temam, Raphaelle Varraso et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2017

FDep seemed reliable to capture socioeconomic residential conditions of the E3N women, more educated in average than general French population. Results varied strongly according to the DI with unexpected results for some of them, which suggested the importance to test external validity before studying social disparities in health in specific populations
