Efficiency evaluation on case finding strategy for Covid-19 outbreak control under China’s “dynamic zero-case policy”
Objectives To evaluate the efficiency of case-finding strategy for COVID-19 outbreak control during the “dynamic zero-case policy” period in Zhejiang Province, China, in 2022. Methods A field epidemiological observational study was conducted to describe the proportion and time distribution of all cases identified in the event. Categorical data were expressed as counts/proportions or positive rates. The proportion of control lead-time was develope…
Human respiratory syncytial virus subgroups A and B outbreak in a kindergarten in Zhejiang Province, China, 2023
Background: In May-June 2023, an unprecedented outbreak of human respiratory syncytial virus (HRSV) infections occurred in a kindergarten, Zhejiang Province, China. National, provincial, and local public health officials investigated the cause of the outbreak and instituted actions to control its spread. Methods: We interviewed patients with the respiratory symptoms by questionnaire. Respiratory samples were screened for six respiratory pathogens…
The epidemiology of Aedes-borne arboviral diseases in Zhejiang, Southeast China
Objective Aedes -borne arboviral diseases were important public health problems in Zhejiang before the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics and change of the epidemiology of Aedes -borne arboviral diseases in the province. Methods Descriptive analyses were conducted to summarize the epidemiology of Aedes -borne arboviral diseases during 2003–2022. Results A total of 3,125 cases,…
The clinical and virological features of two children's coinfections with human adenovirus type 7 and human coronavirus-229E virus
Objective Human adenovirus (HAdV) coinfection with other respiratory viruses is common, but adenovirus infection combined with human coronavirus-229E (HCoV-229E) is very rare. Study design and setting Clinical manifestations, laboratory examinations, and disease severity were compared between three groups: one coinfected with HAdV-Ad7 and HCoV-229E, one infected only with adenovirus (mono-adenovirus), and one infected only with HCoV-229E (mono-HC…
Epidemiology of Indigenous Dengue Cases in Zhejiang Province, Southeast China
Objective Autochthonous transmission of the dengue virus (DENV) occurred each year from 2014 to 2018 in Zhejiang province, and became an emerging public health problem. We characterized the autochthonous transmission of the DENV and traced the source of infection for further control and prevention of dengue. Methods Descriptive and spatiotemporal cluster analyses were conducted to characterize the epidemiology of autochthonous transmission of the…
Epidemiological Trend of Typhoid and Paratyphoid Fevers in Zhejiang Province, China from 1953 to 2014
Background : The incidences of typhoid and paratyphoid remain high and these diseases still pose a public health problem in China and in Zhejiang Province in particular. This study aimed to investigate the trend of typhoid and paratyphoid in Zhejiang Province from 1953 to 2014 and to provide a theoretical basis for the prevention and control of these diseases. Methods : Included in this study were compiled epidemiological data of typhoid and para…
Comparison of Influenza Epidemiological and Virological Characteristics between Outpatients and Inpatients in Zhejiang Province, China, March 2011–June 2015
Given the rapid rate of global spread and consequently healthcare costs related to influenza, surveillance plays an important role in monitoring the emerging pandemics in China. However, the characteristics of influenza in Southeast of China haven't been fully studied. Our study use the surveillance data collected from 16 sentinel hospitals across Zhejiang Province during March 2011 through June 2015, including the demographic information and res…
Human infection and environmental contamination with Avian Influenza A (H7N9) Virus in Zhejiang Province, China
Our study highlights that the severity of poultry-related environmental contamination by H7N9 virus is intensifying. We strongly recommend that the local government stop illegal trading immediately and close live poultry markets in the territory. Poultry operations in slaughtering plants must be supervised rigorously. Prior to the closure of live poultry markets, daily cleaning and disinfecting of areas potentially contaminated by H7N9 virus, cen…
Determinants of Childhood Immunization Uptake among Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Migrants in East China
Recent migrant status favours low immunization uptake, particularly in the vulnerability context of alienation and livelihood insecurity. Services must be delivered with a focus on recent migrants. Investments are needed in education, socio-economic development and secure livelihoods to improve and sustain equitable health care services
