  • Economic burden of tuberculosis in Tanzania

Open Access•Andrew Martin Kilale, Andrea Pantoja et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

We found that the cost of TB care is catastrophic for almost half of the TB-affected households in Tanzania; our findings support the results from other surveys recently conducted in sub-Saharan Africa. Collaborative efforts across health, employment and social welfare sectors are imperative to minimize household costs due to TB disease and improve access to care, patient adherence and outcomes

  • Implementation of WHO guidelines on management of advanced HIV disease and its impact among TB co-infected patients in Tanzania

Open Access•Frank E Hassan, Mbazi Senkoro et al.•ARTICLE•BMC Public Health•2022

Implementation of the TB related WHO packages of care for AHD is very low. Except for TB diagnosis, other parameters did not improve with the introduction of the guidelines. More research is recommended to ascertain the effectiveness of guidelines as well as an understanding of the mechanisms involved
