Household-specific physical activity levels and energy intakes according to the presence of metabolic syndrome in Korean young adults
We found significant association among low PA levels, high energy intake, and MetS components in young Korean adults, but with patterns differing according to household type. Energy intake was higher in young adults with than those without MetS, who lived in multi-person households, while young adults with MetS who lived alone had lower PA levels and lower energy intake than those without MetS. These findings highlight the need for different appr…
Weight Change Is Associated with Osteoporosis
Compared to the Never tried group, being in either the Weight L&M or Weight gain groups showed a significant impact on the possibility of osteoporosis
High Risk of Hip and Spinal Fractures after Distal Radius Fracture
The purpose of the present study was to estimate the risk of hip and spinal fracture after distal radius fracture. Data from the Korean National Health Insurance Service-National Sample Cohort were collected between 2002 and 2013. A total of 8013 distal radius fracture participants who were 50 years of age or older were selected. The distal radius fracture participants were matched for age, sex, income, region of residence, and past medical histo…
Analysis of the Associations between Arthritis and Fall Histories in Korean Adults
(1) Background: the purpose of the present study was to analyze the associations between arthritis and fall histories in Korean adults. (2) Methods: data from the 2015 and 2017 Korean Community Health Survey were analyzed. In total, 322,962 participants aged ≥40 years were included. The participants were divided into two different groups. First, the participants were divided into the 'arthritis (osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis) for entire …
Analyzing the Association between Hyperuricemia and Periodontitis
Hyperuricemia arises from the buildup of excessive uric acid in the blood, and it is implicated in the development of periodontitis. The objective of this study was to investigate the association between hyperuricemia and periodontitis using a cross-sectional study design and Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study Health Examinee (KoGES HEXA) data. This prospective cohort study used epidemiological data from the KoGES from 2004 to 2016. Among 173,2…
Over 100-THz bandwidth selective difference frequency generation at LaAlO3/SrTiO3 nanojunctions
The ability to combine continuously tunable narrow-band terahertz (THz) generation that can access both the far-infrared and mid-infrared regimes with nanometer-scale spatial resolution is highly promising for identifying underlying light-matter interactions and realizing selective control of rotational or vibrational resonances in nanoparticles or molecules. Here, we report selective difference frequency generation with over 100 THz bandwidth vi…
