    The present article is a response to Armando Simón's article: “Goodbye Sigmund Freud: The Case for Exorcising the Ghost of Freud from the Field of Psychology.” I acknowledge Freud’s shortcomings, suggest why Freud's ideas continue to be promulgated despite these shortcomings, and argue that Freud cannot realistically be expunged from psychology.     The present study was an exploration of the effects of request presentation on compliance with a sample of college students in a test cheating milieu. The effect of a request seemed to have a negative effect on compliance seeking, contrary to the hypothesis proposed.
