The Horse in the Population of the Surgut Ob Region in the Early Iron Age
Purpose . During the Early Iron Age, three cultures existed in the Surgut-Ob River region: the Beloyarsk and Kalinkinskaya cultures (7 th – 4 th centuries BC) and the Kulai culture (4 th – 3 rd centuries BC – 3 rd – 4 th centuries AD). For the first time this article describes the dwellings and pottery complex of the Kulaika culture from the fortified settlement of Barsov Gorodok I/20 in the vicinity of the city of Surgut on the right bank of the Ob River in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug–Yugra. The Early Kulaika Settlements in Barsova Gora
This article describes dwellings and pottery assemblages from the settlements of Barsova Gora III/16 and Barsova Gora III/17 of the Kulaika culture in the locality of the same name near the city of Surgut (right bank of the Ob River, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug). Zoomorphic Sculptures of the Late Bronze Age from the Lower Irtysh Region
Purpose . Morphological features of zoomorphic clay sculptures from the Lower Pritishye region, specifically from the Chilimka microdistrict and Luchkino I settlements, were analyzed. Raw Materials in the Paste of Ceramics of the Kulaika Culture Surgut Variant (Based on Samples from Barsova Gora)
A multidisciplinary analysis of ceramics from six sites of the Surgut variant of the Kulaika culture at Barsova Gora was made. Technology was assessed using traceological, petrographic, and X-ray phase analyses. At all the sites, the potters used ferruginous clays tempered with grus, grog, sand, and organic material.
